CODE OF ETHICS
The Society is committed to developing and promoting high ethical standards throughout its membership. All members, their employees are representatives of SOFTA and their actions reflect not only upon themselves but the Society and other members.
Each member is expected to perform their functions consistently with the SOFTA Code of Ethics and should uphold both the letter and the spirit of the applicable terms and by laws of the SOFTA Code of Ethics.
The members of the society value the need to provide our customers the highest standard of service, safety, action, honesty, accountability and commitment.
Because of this, we will, as members of the Society of Fiji Travel Associates:
* Recognise and respect the dignity of all people and treat them accordingly. * Act in accordance with the "spirit" as well as the "letter" of the law. * Act in ways that justify our reputation for excellence, safety, fairness and integrity. * Compete vigorously and fairly. * Support and encourage all our employees and business associates to work in accordance with the SOFTA Code of Ethics.
As a condition of continuing membership in good standing, all members agree to the following aims and guidelines for conduct.
1. Members shall adopt a high standard of business ethics in their dealings with other members, their own clients and suppliers. 2. Members will not solicit a proposal or seek terms, conditions, format or ideas from other members with the intent of taking advantage of the information without expressly using the services of the member company. 3. A member shall not knowingly make false or misleading statements about other members: a. To secure business from a supplier b. To competitors c. To secure otherwise confidential information d. About a member's ability to successfully and professionally meet a potential client's needs or e. About rates, costs, accommodation, transportation, capacity or any other factor regarding a proposed programme. 4. A member shall honour signed contracts or agreements in the "spirit" as well as the intent of the law and make every effort to honour all commitments, both written and verbal. 5. A member must strive to consistently improve the products and services they offer customers. 6. A member shall compete with other members in a fair and honest manner at all times. 7. A member shall only make quotations and contracts which are in the best interest of the clients and which represent the best practicable arrangement. 8. A member will only promote services which are achievable. 9. A member shall uphold the highest standards of administration and pursue only sound financial practices. 10. A member shall nominate into membership only those individuals and companies who meet the professional standards of the Society. 11. A member shall maintain confidentiality of information supplied by clients, suppliers or fellow members. 12. A member shall assist another member during a natural disaster or crisis to ensure that clients are not inconvenienced. 13. A member will not deliberately approach employees of other members for employment except through advertised vacancies and letter application.
In the event of disciplinary action against a member, it will be dealt with in accordance with SOFTA's constitution. |
